New Believers Common Questions: What's Next?

Question: Am I still saved if I make a mistake and sin?

Answer: Yes, we are not perfect but we strive to be like Christ. But, if you sin, you must repent of the sin with all your heart and ask for forgiveness. Then walk away from that path that leads you to the sin you repented from.

Scripture: Hebrew 10: 18-20 "Now where remission of these is, there is no more offering for sin. Having therefore, brothers, boldness to enter into the holiest by the blood of Jesus, By a new and living way, which he hath consecrated for us, through the veil, that is to say, his flesh."

Question: Who do I talk to if I have questions about the Bible?

Answer: You can email us but you should speak to your Pastor, and if you do not have one you  should get into a local church body so that you have a Pastor to mentor and lead you. Always follow up what you are told with scripture and read the Bible yourself.

Scripture: Psalm 32:8 "I will instruct you and teach you in the way you should go; I will counsel you with my loving eye on you."

Question: Now that I'm saved why does it seem like at times life is getting harder?

Answer: Being saved is not a sure fire way to make life easy. Satan does not want anyone to make it to heaven. He will try and lead you down paths that lead to sin. Draw close to God in the hard times and He will be there for you.

Scripture: Galatians 3:9 "So those who rely on faith are blessed along with Abraham, the man of faith."

Question: Do I need to be baptized in water?

Answer: Yes, by doing this you show an outward expression to the world that you are dying to the world and resurrecting in Jesus.

Scripture: Romans 6:4 "Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life."

Question: Now that I'm saved will I lose some of my friends?

Answer: You might lose some friends by your own choice, or they might become unconfortable around you because of their own conviction. Choose friends that will build you up and will not try to get you to sin. Always treat people with love and compassion.  Remember where God saved you from and pray for those friends because they need God also.

Scripture: Psalm 10:17  "You, Lord, hear the desire of the afflicted; you encouraged them, and you listen to their cry."

Question: Why is it important to attend a church?

Answer: A church will put you with other people that believe what you do and will become your family and support group in your times of need.

Scripture: Hebrews 10:25 "And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near."

Question: Do you need the baptism of the Holy Spirit in your life?

Answer: Yes. He is our protection against Satan. He also teaches us and gives us the gifts of the spirit.

Scripture: 1 Corinthians 12: 7-14  "But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal. For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit; To another faith by the same Spirit; to another the gifts of healing by the same Spirit; To another the working of miracles; to another prophecy; to another discerning of spirits; to another divers kinds of tongues; to another the interpretation of tongues: But all these worketh that one and the selfsame Spirit, dividing to every man severally as he will. For as the body is one, and hath many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews or Gentiles, whether we be bond or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit. For the body is not one member, but many."
